Why FUTSAL? Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small-sided soccer game played in an enclosed space that is widely played across the world and is officially recognized by both UEFA and FIFA. The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for soccer competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game.
The benefit of Futsal is greater skill development. Futsal is about pin point passing & skill dribbling demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking and stamina.
The priority in Futsal is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. Playing with the ball develops precise ball control and technical skill, agility, lightening reflexes and decision-making. Futsal places a greater premium on ball control. There is no reward for errant passes because the other team gets the ball. There is no reward for errant shots because the other team gets the ball. There is no incentive to 'kick and run' because the other team gets the ball. Players with the ball must use proper technique to maintain control and must seek out other players in space. Players without the ball must move to 'real' space and must truly support their teammates. With Futsal, the emphasis is clearly on control and technique. Playing in enclosed areas develops creativity; players are also constantly placed in demanding decision-making situations in enclosed areas, which is a major reason why Futsal is one of the finest teachers of the quick pass and movement. In the full field game of soccer it is very hard to defend against a team that is adept at this type of play. Playing the beautiful game of soccer is developed through Futsal.
The Futsal ball is a heavier ball with less bounce and tends to stay in play longer, which promotes close ball control and stronger, more precise passes. Slide tackles and excessive bodily contact is forbidden in the modified game, which results in fewer injuries. It’s no surprise that the game is popular with children, teenagers and adults of both genders and is growing in popularity internationally.
Futsal quickly develops skills required for soccer: balance, motor ability, agility and co-ordination, ball mastery, accurate and quick passing and receiving, perception insight and awareness. Children learn through repetition and practice in small areas this occurs naturally. As Futsal is fast and action packed, fitness is improved while learning and having fun. We find children love playing Futsal. It is exciting, many goals are scored and the game is devoid of complex rules such as off side. Children learn so much faster if they enjoy the game and spend a lot of time playing with the ball.
All games will be played at a local High School gym in Sarnia, Ontario on either Saturday or Sunday.
